OREANDA-NEWS. An outbreak of H5N6 avian influenza (also known as bird flu) has been registered in Sichuan province in southwestern China.

The country’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs reports that no human cases have been detected yet. It is clarified that the incident occurred at one of the farms in Xichong County, the prefecture-level city of Nancghong. It is known that there were 2,497 poultry on the farm, 1.84 thousand were infected and died. After the outbreak of the epidemic, local authorities took the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the disease and destroyed more than 2.26 thousand birds.

In August 2019, a case of human infection with bird flu was recorded in Beijing.
