OREANDA-NEWS. President of Syria Bashar al-Assad claimed that the Arab Republic had not committed any hostile actions against Turkey.

“What hostile action – big or small – did Syria commit against Turkey? There are none. There are Syrian-Turkish marriages, there are families, there are common vital interests. This mutual cultural incorporation is historically determined, therefore it is illogical that there should be serious disagreement between them and us,” Syrian leader said in an interview with Russia 24 television channel. Al-Assad called the Turks a fraternal people and stated that it was not clear what for they would die in a foreign country.

On February 27, Ankara launched the military operation named Spring Shield in northwestern Syria. This was a response to the death of 36 Turkish military on the same day.
