OREANDA-NEWS. The armistice in Nagorno-Karabakh is possibly only if Turkey withdraws from the South Caucasus. Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated this during an interview with the Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail.

According to the politician, Turkey encourages Azerbaijan’s actions aimed at regaining Nagorno-Karabakh and sends Syrian mercenaries to help Baku. Pashinyan believes that terrorists brought from the Middle East are fighting on the side of Azerbaijan under the aegis of Turkey. He declared that the population of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh cannot be left defenseless against terrorists.

The Prime Minister noted that Turkey’s behaviour creates problems for the entire international community. He added that the Armenian government is in constant contact with Russia. Pashinyan also said that Yerevan welcomes the joint statement by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, the United States, Russia and France, in which they called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to immediately cease hostilities and start negotiations without putting forward additional conditions.

Yerevan has already reported that it is ready to restore the ceasefire. Baku has not yet commented on the statement of the OSCE Minsk Group.
