OREANDA-NEWS. July 1, 2008. A scheduled consultation between First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Denisov and Foreign Secretary of the Republic of India Shivshankar Menon took place in Moscow on June 30.

During the consultation, a broad range of issues relating to the promotion of bilateral strategic partnership in the light of the realization of the accords reached during the Russian-Indian summit meeting in Moscow on November 12, 2007 was examined, along with priority problems on the international agenda. Upcoming contacts and events slated as part of the Year of Russia being held in India this year and the Year of India to be held in Russia in 2009 were discussed.

At the end of the consultation, the sides noted the similarity or identity of Russia and India’s approaches to pressing global and regional problems in the interest of shaping a democratic multipolar world pattern, countering the new challenges and threats and bolstering stability and security in the world. They reaffirmed their mutual desire to maintain and develop interaction in multilateral formats as well as the fruitful dialogue between the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries.
