OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2010. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Viktor Sheiman, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

The guest conveyed the heartfelt greetings and the written message of President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko, who expressed the wishes of wellbeing and prosperity to the people of Turkmenistan. Viktor Sheiman emphasized that Belarus was keenly interested in enhancing fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan that had been intensified considerably in recent years. Noting that this was his first visit to Turkmenistan, the guest expressed sincere admiration of Ashgabat and an intention to see more of the Turkmen capital that had captivated him with its beauty at first sight.

Thanking for the kind words, the national leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed the best wishes to President Aleksander Lukashenko and the Belarusian people emphasizing that Turkmenistan also intended to develop traditionally friendly relations with the Republic of Belarus, expand mutually advantageous partnership through using its profound potential.

Exchanging views on the priority fields of Turkmen-Belarusian cooperation, the President and his guest underscored the vast opportunities for intensifying fruitful collaboration in the whole spectrum of fields including the trade and economic, agricultural, transport and communication sectors, chemical and processing industries.

In particular, the issues regarding the implementation of the large-scale joint project for construction of the ore-dressing and processing enterprise producing potash fertilizers in Lebap Velayat, including the development of relevant infrastructure, were discussed. Emphasizing on the profound significance of the future facility for the national economy, the President of Turkmenistan suggested that Belarusian partners build a settlement for local workers.

The success factors of interstate cooperation include the substantial experience of collaboration and close contacts established in such spheres as the deliveries of agricultural and other equipment to Turkmenistan. In this context emphasis was put on the mutual interest of the two states in continuing collaboration in this sphere.

A focus of the discussion was the aspects of humanitarian cooperation as an essential component of the Turkmen-Belarus dialogue. In this regard, Viktor Sheiman confirmed Belarus’s readiness to enhance fruitful cooperation including in education and training highly qualified specialists for Turkmenistan.

Focusing on the importance of implementing consistently and fully the agreements reached during top-level meetings, the President and his guest underscored the need to intensify contacts between ministries and departments of the two countries with the view of strengthening and consistently developing interstate partnership in compliance with its huge potential and modern realities.

In conclusion, the leader of the Turkmen state and Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Belarus expressed belief that Turkmen-Belarusian relations based on the traditions of friendship, mutual goodwill and long-term cooperation would be further developed for the benefit of the two fraternal peoples.
