OREANDA-NEWS. The Council of Europe extended until September 15, 2020 the sanctions imposed in 2014 on Russian companies and individuals in connection with their “actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.”

According to a statement of the Council, restrictive measures will continue to apply to 175 individuals (citizens of Russia and Ukraine) and 44 entities. It is notes that under the sanctions regime, not only the assets of persons falling under it are frozen, but there is also a ban on other persons from having access to any assets in the European Union.

Among others, the sanctions imposed in 2014 touch upon the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, general director of Roskosmos Dmitry Rogozin, deputy head of the presidential administration of Russia Dmitry Kozak, businessman Arkady Rotenberg, and chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.
