OREANDA-NEWS. President of France Emmanuel Macron has been diagnosed with coronavirus of a new type. The head of state passed a positive test for COVID-19.

A message from the Elysee Palace says that the test was done after the first symptoms of the disease appeared in Macron. “In accordance with the current sanitary regulations, which apply to all citizens of the country, the French President will go into self-isolation for seven days. He will continue to work remotely,” the statement reads.

In late November, Macron announced intention to begin lifting the restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic. If the situation with COVID-19 improves, the self-isolation regime was planned to be canceled from December 15, cinemas, theaters and museums were planned to be opened. However, the situation in the country is developing in such a way that the authorities had to refuse to cancel restrictions. Cinemas, theaters and museums will be closed until January 7; visiting sports matches is prohibited.
