OREANDA-NEWS. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in an interview with the Spectator magazine that “resetting” relations between London and Moscow is impossible.

A day earlier, the head of the British government, recognizing the existence of big problems in this sphere, however expressed hope for an improvement in trade relations between the two countries.

“What I’ve really changed my mind on was whether it is possible to reset with Russia. I really thought, as I think many foreign secretaries and prime ministers have thought before, that we could start again with Russia. That it’s a great country we fought with against fascism. It was very, very disappointing that I was wrong,” Johnson stated.

Russian-British relations deteriorated sharply after the poisoning of former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in March 2018 in the city of Salisbury. London accused Moscow of involvement in poisoning. Russian authorities deny the charges.
