OREANDA-NEWS. The Brazilian Press Association intends to sue the country’s president Jair Bolsonaro because he put journalists at risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2.

On July 7, Bolsonaro said at a press conference that his test for the new coronavirus gave a positive result. According to the Association, the head of state “violated the isolation regime recommended by doctors,” did not maintain distance and took off his mask. “Despite the fact that he knew that he was infected with COVID-19, President Jair Bolsonaro continued to act in a criminal manner and put other people’s lives at risk,” the statement says.

Journalists accuse the president of violating two articles of the Penal Code, including the spread of infectious diseases. These articles provide for imprisonment and a fine.
