OREANDA-NEWS. The first president of Ukraine, the plenipotentiary representative of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass, Leonid Kravchuk, said that Kiev is ready to make several compromises in the negotiations, including proposal to create a free economic zone in the region.

“We can offer to consider the issue of a free economic zone in these areas. By the way, in 1993, when I was president, I signed a decree establishing a free economic zone in these regions, but then it somehow got lost. However, this does not mean that it is impossible to return to this issue and discuss it,” Kravchuk said.

According to the politician, another compromise that Ukraine can make is connected to the issue of the special status of Donbass. At the same time, he noted that the previously proposed option for such a status does not satisfy Kiev.

Kravchuk assured that Ukraine will do everything in its power: it will agree to any negotiations, compromises, make various proposals to resolve the situation in Donbass.
