President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called the situation with coronavirus infection in the country tolerable. “Today, the situation in Belarus with viruses and other diseases that we have is tolerable. We are not saying that everything is fine with us, that we have already got the Lord by the beard. No. But the method that we have been using for the third month brings its result,” the politician said.

The President noted that other states have also used this method. “Look at the western countries: they slowly opened up, the economy began to work, and millions of people are involved in this,” Lukashenko explained.

In Belarus, quarantine restrictions for citizens were not imposed; they fought the spread of the infection focally. The press service of the Ministry of Health of the republic said on May 11 that the number of detected cases of COVID-19 increased to 23,906 people. 135 patients died.
