OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, during a meeting with local authorities, called for making Vladimir Putin the life president of Russia. “I always said that we must elect Vladimir Putin as president for life. Today, who can replace him? There is no such political leader in the whole world. We should be proud of it,” Kadyrov said.

He also noted that all proposed amendments to the Constitution of Russia relate to “strengthening state positions,” therefore, all Russians should take part in the vote and support them.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to a proposal by the head of Chechnya. According to the Kremlin representative, a lifelong presidency is not provided for by the Constitution of the Russian Federation. “The Constitution does not provide for such a position,” Peskov said.
