OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a telephone conversation.

The politicians expressed hope that the meeting of Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Moscow scheduled for March 5 would be successful. This was reported on the Kremlin website. The message states that the conversation was initiated by the German side. Putin and Merkel also discussed issues of the settlement of Syrian conflict regarding the worsening situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone.

During the talks, the heads of state also touched upon the situation in Libya, noting the need for the parties to the conflict to comply with the ceasefire and implement the decisions of the Berlin conference, which was held on January 19.
