OREANDA-NEWS. Konstantin Kosachev, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of Russia, called for lifting all sanctions in the world except those that were imposed by the United Nations amid the spread of coronavirus and the situation in the oil market.

According to the senator, an agreement to nullify restrictive measures could be initiated by the BRICS states and supported by the G20 countries. Kosachev believes that a fall in demand for energy, fluctuations in currency exchange rates and threat to people’s safety provoke long-term risks of entering a protracted world recession. The politician noted that if such measures are not taken, there will be an economic crisis, which “will not spare any country.” He noted that currently 70 % of the global economy is in the zone of sanctions, therefore the abolition of restrictions will help release great potential.
