OREANDA-NEWS. The amendments to the Constitution approved by the relevant law and submitted to the all-Russian vote will not be changed. This was stated by the head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building and the co-chair of the working group on constitutional amendments, Andrey Klishas.

In this way the politician responded to the recommendation of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) working under the Council of Europe.

“We took note of the position of the Venice Commission, nothing more. No changes will be made to the amendment law in connection with this position. The text of the amendment will remain unchanged,” Klishas said.

On June 18, the Venice Commission recommended to change the amendment to Article 79 of the Constitution, or refuse it. The amendment to this norm provides for priority of the Russian Constitution over international law.
