OREANDA-NEWS. The Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) will be forced to take decisive measures and move the line of contact if the Ukrainian side does not stop the provocative shelling of civilians and infrastructure objects. This was declared by the head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik.

On May 16, as a result of the shelling of the territory of the republic by Ukrainian forces, a residential sector and a power line were damaged.

“I want to urge the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to take measures to stop the unprovoked shelling of our territory… If such actions continue… you… will leave us no choice but to take effective and decisive measures to move the line of contact from mentioned power line,” Pasechnik said.

The head of the self-proclaimed republic gave instructions to put the units of the People’s Militia on alert. Pasechnik noted that regular shelling of civilians and infrastructure is an intentional provocation of Ukrainian troops. In order to avoid an escalation of the conflict, Pasechnik called on Russia, Germany, France and the OSCE representatives to influence Ukraine to ensure a real ceasefire.
