OREANDA-NEWS. The summit of the Normandy Four (Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France) will be held in the foreseeable future, but it is useless to plan specific dates now. This was stated on September 17 by Dmitry Peskov, a press secretary of the Russian President.

“We wouldn't fix any dates now, because it’s useless. Indeed, we should expect a Normandy format meeting of heads of state in the foreseeable future. The only snag is what is considered the foreseeable future,” the politician explained. According to him, the summit should be prepared, and it is also necessary to observe the implementation of the agreements reached in Paris earlier. “In itself, a summit meeting for the sake of a meeting, of course, is not needed by any of the heads of state or government, it is needed for the sake of the result,” Peskov stressed.

In August, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that all parties to the Normandy Four agreed to hold a meeting. The head of presidential office, Andriy Yermak, noted that the summit should take place before the end of the year, despite the lack of clear agreements. On September 15, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine demanded explanations from Moscow on the holding of the summit.
