OREANDA-NEWS The organizers of the rally on August 25 on Academician Sakharov Avenue in Moscow refused the authorities' proposal to hold it from the outside of the Garden Ring. This was reported to reporters on Friday in the press service of the capital's department of regional security and anti-corruption.

“When considering the notice <...> the organizers were asked to hold a rally without a march on Academician Sakharov Avenue from the outside of the Garden Ring, where such events were held several times, and the location and infrastructure of the avenue allow us to safely accommodate the stated number of participants. However, the applicants refused to compromise with by the authorities, demanding that they hold a rally at 12, Akademik Sakharov Avenue, and not at 9," the statement said.

"In our opinion, this is a blackmail decision, and not the desire to host the event," the press service said.

The previously unregistered Libertarian Party appealed to the Moscow government with a notification on holding a public event on August 25 in the form of a procession along the Boulevard Ring from Pushkinskaya Square to Akademik Sakharov Avenue and a rally on the inside of the Garden Ring with up to 100 thousand participants. Authorities said they had agreed to hold only a rally on Academician Sakharov Avenue.
