OREANDA-NEWS. CherMK of OJSC “Severstal”, having executed the production program of 2006, has increased manufacture of steel by 2,3%, rolled products - by 2,2% for this period. 

According to the press-service of “Severstal”, general director of CherMK of OJSC “Severstal” Anatoly Kruchinin has noted that in spite of the fact that the task of escalating volumes of manufacture was not put before the company in 2006, as the enterprise was solving the fundamental investment program, the enterprise has melted more than 11 million tons of steel and has shipped to consumers more than 10 million tons of commodity rolled products.

Growth of volumes of manufacture against the last year’s level was received on such kinds of production as agglomerate - 2,5% and pig-iron - 2,8%.

These results have been reached basically due to completion of some large investment actions in the second half of 2006 that has provided both increase in volumes of manufacture, and also manufacture of new kinds of production with high added cost demanded in the various industrial markets.

The major investment projects of the year was the start-up of a blast furnace #5, the third coke batteries, joint venture “Severgal”, reconstruction in converter manufacture and in such rolling shops, as sheet-rolling shop #2 and sheet-rolling shop #3.
