OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Pavel Filip, along with academicians, university professors and students, attended the awarding of the title Doctor Honoris Causa to university professor, PhD in medical sciences Alexandru Mustea. The event took place at the Nicolae Testemiteanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy today.

In his speech, Prime Minister Pavel Filip appreciated the achievements of Alexandru Mustea in the medicine sector, with the professor being a member of more national and international scientific societies and author of over 70 specialty publications.  

“There is a holiday today, both for professor Mustea and for all of us, but especially for those of the Nicolae Testemiteanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. I offer you congratulations, dear professor Mustea, for the work you do, a noble one. An important thing is that you have never forgotten the Motherland,” Pavel Filip said.   

Also, the prime minister gave assurances that the government’s team would continue undertaking actions to modernize the Moldovan medical system, so that the medical staff, young specialists may work at home in European conditions.

“The government is presently concerned about the creation of good conditions for work in medical institutions, coming with important investments in infrastructure, as well as increases in salaries for medical employees. The healthcare system, physicians need increased attention on behalf of the state, the changes in the system are necessary, but also complicated and need a wide support of the academic community and the society on the whole,” Pavel Filip said.    

For his part, the professor and PhD in medicine Alexandru Mustea thanked those who backed him in his career of physician and researcher, stressing that the awarding of the Doctor Honoris Causa title at the Nicolae Testemiteanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, he had graduated from, was an honour for him.

Presently, professor Alexandru Mustea works in Germany, where starting from 2008, he has been holding the office of deputy director and head physician of the Clinic and Polyclinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Medical School from Greifswald, Germany.
