OREANDA-NEWS. The Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIItochmash, part of Rostec) received a patent for the invention of modular firearms, in which elements can be changed depending on the tasks, the institute’s press service.

"The development patented by Russian gunsmiths provides the ability to use both different calibers by replacing the barrel, gate larvae and the magazine, as well as different types of lodges due to the unification of the mount, while also allowing for the installation of various triggers. In addition, it provides a reliable base for all modules located on the frame  , simplified assembly and manufacture of parts ", - reported in the department.

At the moment, there are already several types of such rifle weapons.  The very closest to Russian weapons is the German Mauser M03 carbine.  However, it has a number of significant shortcomings, namely, a solid bed, a large weight of the carbine and the complexity of its execution.  As well as the classic location of the trigger mechanism and the accession of the store, which does not allow to reduce the length of the weapon.
