OREANDA-NEWS. Scientists at Oxford University in the UK conducted a study involving more than 54 thousand people to find out how the decision to give up meat in their daily diet affects people's health. They found that people who follow a vegan diet and do not consume meat products are 43% more at risk of fractures than those who regularly eat meat.

To conduct the experiment, scientists divided its participants into three categories: volunteers who ate either a vegan or vegetarian diet, or ate meat or fish. During the survey, study participants reported whether they had fractures.

According to Moscow 24, as a result of the experiment, it turned out that those who did not eat meat had a reduced intake of calcium and protein into the body with food, which increased the fragility of bones. According to scientists, everyone who has decided to give up meat in their life has a particularly high risk of hip fracture. It was also found that in vegans who, on average, had a reduced body mass index, the incidence of fractures increased by 20 cases per thousand in a 20-year period.

Therefore, scientists recommend that you be more careful about your diet, not follow trends and fashion trends, but take into account, first of all, the characteristics of the body of each individual person and his lifestyle.
