OREANDA-NEWS. January 26, 2009. Dmitry Medvedev submitted to the State Duma a proposal the Vladimir Lukin be reappointed to the post of Russia's Human Rights Ombudsman.

In accordance with the Federal Constitutional Law ‘On the Russian Federation Human Rights Ombudsman’, the ombudsman is appointed for a five-year term, and can be reappointed for a second term, but cannot hold the post for more than two consecutive terms. 

Vladimir Lukin has held the post of human rights ombudsman since 2004.
