OREANDA-NEWS. February 16, 2009. Children from the Chernobyl-hit regions are taking part in the Planet of Health drawing contest.

According to Dmitry Subtselny, children aged between 11-18, who live in the Chechersk and Bragin regions of the Gomel oblast, the Stolin region of the Brest oblast, the Slavgorod region of the Mogilev oblast, will submit their works to the jury by March 15. The paintings will compete in two nominations My Health and Me and Radiological Culture.

The major goal of the project is to highlight the issues related to the protection of health in the regions affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

The event is held in line with the project “Information health programme in the Chernobyl-hit regions” financed by the European Union. The contest has been organized by the Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs under the auspices of the education departments of the Chechersk, Bragin, Stolin, Slavgorod regional executive committees.

An exhibition will be organised after the art contest. The organizers are planning to make an electronic catalogue of drawings.
