OREANDA-NEWS. On 15 April 2009 was announced, that Besovets airport near Petrozavodsk will be fit up with new light-signal equipment that will allow to provide all-the-year-round 24-hour operation of its runway. This agreement has been reached at the meeting of the Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia Pavel Chernov with the Minister of Transport of Russia Igor Levitin held on April 7 in Moscow.

At the meeting the parties have also discussed financing of construction and reconstruction of motorways in Karelia. In particular, matters concerned completion of reconstruction of Lesnoy Ave. in Petrozavodsk on Kukkovka — Drevlyanka site, works on Kola federal line near the settlement of Matrosy, development of the project of the new bridge through the river of Shuya, as well as roadwork on the site of Pryazha — Sortavala line recently transferred to the federal property. According to Pavel Chernov, amid the crisis due to correction of the budget 1 of 2 billion roubles allocated in 2009 to Karelia for roadwork has been withdrawn. Prime Minister of Karelia asked Minister of Transport of Russia to promote restoration of funds intended for the republic.

Pavel Chernov has noted, that the Government of Karelia will aspire to complete reconstruction of Lesnoy Ave. in Petrozavodsk in any case irrespective of the level of federal financing.

On April 8, Prime Minister of Karelia has taken part in the meeting on consideration of the Concept of reforming of internal waterways control system of the Russian Federation which was also held in the Ministry of Transport of Russia.

Need for acceptance of the Concept was felt in Karelia, too. "Last year Federal Agency for Realty Cadastre had been putting up moorages for auction; stranger businessmen bought them and charged for using them in their discretion. Now within the scope of the Concept it is offered to found the Rosvodput (Russian Waterways) state unitary enterprise to which all the mooring infrastructure will belong. I hope, that such decision will be made,"  — Prime Minister of the republic has told.
