OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2009. The display space of Turkmenistan’s pavilion at the EXPO 2010 World Fair, which will take place in Shanghai (People’s Republic of China) from May 1 to October 31, 2010, will occupy over 1,000 square metres.

More than thirty sectoral ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, which will take part in this prestigious global forum for the first time, will display their products at the grandiose international fair. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs have concluded the contracts with the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination and started the preparations for on of the most significance economic events at global level. To date, more than 180 countries and nearly 50 large international organisations have confirmed their participation in Shanghai 2010 Expo. Over 70 million expected visitors will represent business communities from all over the world. Even today the participants put much effort to attract as more visitors to their pavilions as possible.

To prepare for the global exhibition the organizing committee is established. It is responsible for coordinating the activities of numerous national exhibitors. The ideas of the pavilion design and the concept of the exposition were discussed during a regular meeting of the organizing committee at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The major aim of the concept is to reflect the main theme of the forum “Better City – Better Life” as well as to ensure the aesthetical attractiveness of the exposition and create an impressive image of modern Turkmenistan and its capital.

It should be noted that Turkmenistan pavilion occupies one of the favourable locations on the ‘geographical map’ of the exposition, nearby the Expo-2010 host – People’s Republic of China. The members of the organizing committee of Turkmenistan have already visited the construction site at the waterfront area on a side of the Huangpu River to see the progress of construction work. The pavilion will be constructed by this December. The national experts are engaged in writing the scenarios of the roundtable and presentations of the cultural heritage of Turkmenistan in China. Particular attention will be paid to the National Day of Turkmenistan at the global exhibition. The representatives of all the countries participating in the forum will be invited to these events.

Furthermore, the art contest for the design of Turkmen pavilion was announced in our country. The major criteria are a combination of the national motifs and achievements of modern design, originality and creative approach. Ten design companies of the country have applied for the participation in the contest. They are to draft the design of the pavilion, exhibition emblem and logo.
