OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2010. Cooperation between Nakhodka and the Republic of Korea in the sphere of health care is being actively developed. Nakhodka’s residents have already been able to estimate the advantages of medical treatment in the Kyung Hee Medical Center in Seoul, which is considered to be one of the leading medical centers in the world.

Serious illness of the 24-year-old female resident of Nakhodka began six years ago after a kneecap injury. Medics couldn’t correctly diagnose her illness for a long time. Meanwhile, the illness progressed. Young girl was ultimately diagnosed with cartilage destruction of the fourth grade. She could become the invalid for the rest of her life.

In Russia, high-technology surgeries in this sphere aren’t spread enough. That is why young girl appealed for help to local authorities. Representatives of local authorities, in their turn, called to the medical center of Seoul. After that a patient left for South Korea for medical treatment. In April, she will leave for Korea once again. There, cartilage grown from a patient's own stem cells will be transplanted in her knee.

South Korean Medical Center was chosen by local authorities not by chance. One year ago presentation of medical services of the Kung Hee University Medical Center took place at Nakhodka City Hall.
