OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2010. The introductory workshop organized in collaboration with the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Office in Turkmenistan and the Health Information Centre of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan at the President Hotel in Ashgabat was dedicated to the international practice in managing media activities in emergency situations.

TV and radio specialists and journalists of the national and velayat newspapers and journals, the representatives of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan were invited to take part in the forum.

Greeting the forum participants, Samphe Lhalungpa, UNICEF Country Representative in Turkmenistan underscored with satisfaction on special attention given in the country to developing and improving the activities of mass media that played an increasing role in modern society in informing promptly local population of important events taking place in the country and abroad in particular.

Communications Consultant Gay Scandlan (United States) invited to the forum as an international expert presented an overview on the international practice in managing the media activities aimed at preventing pandemics and made the presentation on the most effective methods for raising awareness of local population by preparing special materials and reportages.

The workshop participants received the certificates.
