OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2010.  Hydrometeorological services of Belarus and Russia have been working hard on similar approaches in preventing and informing the population on dangerous weather events, head of the hydrometeorology department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus Maria Germenchuk told media on 11 August.

Hydrometeorological experts exchange daily data on weather pattern including wildfire danger class. “A permanent monitoring of the situation is vital today,” Maria Germenchuk said.

In September Grodno will host a regular joint board of the hydrometeorological services of Russia and Belarus to consider the issue of working out single approaches on preventing and informing the population on dangerous weather conditions. The previous session of the Union Committee on Hydrometeorology and Environmental Pollution Supervision took place in Ryazan in June.

Hydrometeorological experts of Belarus and Russia initiate the development of a joint hydrometeorology program for 2012-2016. The program will focus on providing clients with climatic and forecasting information for sustainable economic development of the two countries, Maria Germenchuk stated.
