OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2010. The Days of Culture of the Federal Republic of Germany have started in Ashgabat today. This cultural action is a bright illustration of the willingness of the two states and nations to establish closer and versatile contacts and ties.

Currently, the Turkmen-German relations are dynamically developed. This is facilitated by friendly relations established between the leaders of the two states – President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, the willingness of our countries to step up the multidimensional interstate dialogue. Turkmenistan and Germany foster cooperation based on mutual confidence and benefit in the bilateral format as well as in the framework of major international institutions, including the European Union and the United Nations.

Traditional friendly contacts between the two peoples, which laid a fertile ground for successful economic cooperation, underlay good relations between our states. In recent years, Turkmenistan and Germany have significantly expanded collaboration in the spheres of science, education, healthcare and culture. This year, the German library stock that serves as the fount of knowledge about the history of Turkmen-German relations for students, has been opened at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan; it has become a tradition to arrange Christmas concerts in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Turkmenistan. The Days of Culture of the Germany in Turkmenistan is a significant step to bring two cultures closer and promote mutual understanding between the two friendly nations.

The programme of the Days is rich in concerts, exhibitions, meetings. The ceremony of opening the Days of Culture of Germany in Turkmenistan has taken place at the Turkmenistan Cinema and Concert Centre, where the famous jazz band – the Arne Jansen trio with the Nurana group of Turkmen musicians will present a performance. On the first day of December the Museum of Fine Arts will host an exhibition of the works of Turkmen and German artists and a photo exposition of archeological finds discovered by German archaeologists and their Turkmen counterparts in Turkmenistan. An exhibition devoted to friendship between the two nations will take place at secondary school 27 specializing in the German language. The Days of Culture of Germany in Turkmenistan will be concluded by the closing ceremony and a concert of the works created by German composers will be performed by the orchestra Rovshan Nepesov at the Turkmenistan Cinema and Concert Centre on December 3.

This spectacular art festival will become an opportunity for German friends to learn about culture, art, customs and rich traditions of the Turkmen people, visit historic sites, museums and other landmarks in the Turkmen capital.
