OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2011. The Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan has developed intelligent monitoring system of earthquake prediction.

At international scientific-technical conference on the theme "Prospects of development of modern information & communication technologies" Institute’s director Telman Aliyev informed that the system would identify in advance the foci and coordinates of earthquakes.

"The system is based on an analysis of noise and allows forecasting earthquakes within a radius of 300-400 km for 5-20 hours.

Today in Gumadasi, Siyazan, Shirvan and Naftalan four relevant station are used, from which the information is sent to the head server located at the Institute of Cybernetics. Similar servers have been installed in the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Communications & IT of Azerbaijan," he said.

According to Aliyev, through the stations Azerbaijan will provide its seismic safety, as in the future along with the ability to determine the time and coordinates of the earthquake it is expected to use a function that enables to estimate the strength of a possible quake.

In the near future the government will be submitted for consideration a document entitled "Seismic Safety System Monitoring".
