OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a telephone conversation on December 7 discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and Donbass. This was reported by the Kremlin press service.

It is noted that the leaders of the two countries expressed their readiness for further cooperation within the framework of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

The Russian President informed Merkel about the mediation efforts undertaken in Nagorno-Karabakh to end hostilities, as well as the activities of Russian peacekeepers. Putin and Merkel stressed that the trilateral agreement between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia contributes to the overall stabilization of the situation in the region.

The heads of Russia and Germany also discussed the situation in Donbass and the measures to strengthen the ceasefire regime introduced within the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group. Putin and Merkel expressed concern about the lack of progress in the implementation of the political aspects of the Minsk Agreements.
