OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2010. The new building of the Kunya Urgench customs station of the Dashoguz Velayat customs office was opened on the border with the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Through the constructive foreign policy pursued by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Turkmen-Uzbek mutually beneficial relations based on centuries-old traditions of good neighbourliness and spiritual and cultural affinities of the two nations have been intensified in the epoch of reforms. That is convincingly evidenced by the growing dynamics in the intergovernmental dialogue reflected in particular in the intergovernmental reciprocal travel documents and the simplified travel procedures for citizens residing in the border regions.

In this regard the Government of Turkmenistan pays particular attention to improving and bringing the work of the customs stations of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan in compliance with international standards that is evidenced by construction of the new customs station in Kunya Urgench.

The working conditions and equipment of the customs station with inspection devices manufactured by the world’s leading producers satisfy the requirements set in our country to facilities of this kind. The station has the high capacity in handling visitors and vehicles crossing the national boundary.

Computer equipment, video surveillance and telephone systems and other special-purpose devices contribute to efficient coordination of all units and enable to collect and process the necessary data in a prompt manner, ensure direct communication with higher authorities and other frontier posts. The conditions conducive to efficient work of personnel are created at the station.

The new customs station will ensure prompt and efficient services and speed up examination of passenger and vehicles flows that are steadily increased as the friendly relations with the neighbouring country and other states in the region are intensified. 

The representatives of the Dashoguz Velayat Khyakimlik, the high-ranking officials of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the elders took part in the ceremony of opening the new building of the customs station. Local art groups performed a concert in the framework of the ceremony.
