OREANDA-NEWS. March 09, 2011. The Baku State University and the British Council have signed a memorandum of understanding.

The Baku State University (BGU) press service informs that University’s rector Abel Maharramov met with British Council’s head Paul Clementon.

During the meeting the sides signed a memorandum on British Council’s support for important aspects of the education system, in particular establishing long-term cooperation between BGU and UK higher educational institutions that will facilitate the exchange of scientific workers and teaching staff members.

Under the Memo, English language teachers can improve their English, and teachers who are not English language teachers will be able to raise the level of this language knowledge.

The main purpose of the Memo is to define the boundaries of long-term cooperation and coordination of activity within the framework of the internationalization of higher education. Internationalization of higher education is one of the British Council’s programs, implemented in the field of higher education. The goal of international cooperation in the area of higher education is to ensure the quality of interstate education, development of business and enterprises, as well as skills that can be imparted.
